Update 30|01|2015

Sigh, my birthday month is coming to an end...

1. It is confirmed - my exams are on the 26th of February. Bruh, Chinese New Year ain't even over yet but I have to suck it up, study and sit for my exams.

2. My friends, family and I celebrated my birthday on the 24th of January. Myself and my friends played a lot of games that involved popping balloons like pass the balloon with and without your hands, sit on the balloon until it pops etc. Funny story, because we didn't have a balloon pump at first, we had to blow the balloons which was no easy feat. I know that because I failed to blow a single balloon that night. So there we sat around the rectangular table in the middle of the room, blowing our balloons with red faces, occasionally gasping for air. It wasn't until my dad eventually went out and bought a balloon pump that we stopped blowing the balloons. Some of my friends called the balloons they blew their "babies" because they had a hard time blowing them which imo, was so ridiculously funny.

The cake was awesome even though it didn't match the image I had pictured in my head. It had brown and white striped horizontal lines across it and on top of it was chocolate hipster glasses as well as the words "happy birthday jojo". As for the presents... WOW. The presents I received this year blew my mind away. There was a starbucks tumblr, a vintage bracelet, innisfree products, royce chocolates and many others.

3. Last Tuesday, as the student in charge of everything related to History class, I had to collect money from my classmates because we had to pay for the modules our History teacher had given to us. As I kind of, sort of procrastinated, I was in a hurry to collect all of the money before first period- which was History- started. What I figured out at the last minute was that a boy who hadn't given me the money yet was one of the students to go on the school trip to Japan, thus making me unable to collect the full sum that day. However, not wanting to get in trouble with my teacher, I pleaded his friend to help him pay the sum first and take back the money from him when he comes back. At first his friend refused to help him pay, but he eventually agreed to it to which I was grateful for.

Few days later, said friend came to ask me if I had collected any money from him to which I replied by reminding him to collect the money from his friend. "Oh, it was you," was his response. Today, when he came by to my desk to copy my answers for our English exercise sheet, I asked him if he had taken his money back. "No." was his answer.

... I hope he gets the money back soon though I did notice that his friend has been absent for quite a number of days this week.

4. Wednesday after school ended, my friends and I had about 45 minutes to eat lunch before we were to begin our extra co-curricular activities. We got to the restaurant relatively fast, sat down, ordered our food, then waited for it to arrive. For some reason, some of our food came early whilst some came when it was time for us to go back. As we weren't the type of people to ditch our friends to save our bums, we waited until they've finished their food before walking back to school.

In the end we were 30 minutes late, but that's all right. We are seniors after all.

Well, I can't think of anymore things to write so till my next post, bye!

My birthday!

As you might've already guessed from the title above, today is my birthday! Today is the day when I officially turn 17 years old ( physically of course, my mentality is still that of a 15 year old's ). Since today is such a special day for me, I thought I'd write a blog post on my day for remembrance :). The sad thing is that I can't seem to remember how I spent my birthday last year, so I hope that in a few years time when I come back to this blog, I'll be able to remember it, my sweet 17.

So today before school started, I had to say goodbye to my friends who were going to Japan on a student exchange programme organised by the school. The reason I didn't join them was because the fees were too expensive, plus I've already been to Japan before... which is a shame because I loved being in Japan. Anyway, my friends and I hugged and bid our farewells, then proceeded to go out into the open hall to queue up according to our classes. My friends didn't forget to wish me happy birthday and I was so flushed that I didn't know how to respond.

After coming back from the toilet, we went to our respective lines. Instead of sitting down, I opened my bag to take out a list of my classmates' names as I was in charge of collecting the money for our History modules. While rummaging through my files, I noticed that there was a particular file which looked familiar but didn't belong to me. I was so shocked that I thought I had accidentally taken someone's file without realising it. Either that or someone must've opened my bag to put it in, but why?

Few minutes later, we eventually went to class. When we reached our class, I could hear the sound of the bus' engine from below, the one filled with students who were bound for Japan in a few hours. Of course I couldn't help but feel a bit jealous, but the emotion was quickly shoved aside as I reminded myself repeatedly that I've been to Japan before so there was nothing to be jealous of. Most of us crowded around the windows to see as the bus descended the hill and disappeared below, some even saying "goodbye" to their friends even though they couldn't hear them.

The day went by quite smoothly although we couldn't help but notice the gaping hole my friends had left after their departure to Japan. Our circle felt... incomplete, After recess, when my friends stood around my seat, they suddenly started to sing "Happy Birthday" which completely took me off guard by the way. I was flustered to the point of burying my head on the table, lifting it up from time to time to look at them then burying it again. It was the first time anyone has ever sang happy birthday to me in school, and for that I felt touched.

Then came the time for us to go home. At home, when I went to check my phone, I noticed that I received a whatsapp voice message from my friends who were supposed to be on a plan to Singapore to transit to Japan. Turns out that they recorded themselves saying and singing happy birthday to me on the bus ride to the airport. Upon hearing their voice message, I couldn't help but feel glad to have dorky-ass friends like them, I mean seriously they were so cute can you imagine like two girls singing happy birthday to a phone in a bus full of people, that's really cute. Anyway, a few hours later, I took out the file that I found in my bag as well as the present ( a lollipop ) my friend had given me earlier on to put in the fridge. Turns out that the file belonged to said friend and in it contained a drawing of my favourite drama character and also a birthday card. I eventually thanked her on Line minutes later.

So this is where I have nothing else to write. Of course there's going to be a birthday celebration on a larger scale on Saturday, 24 | 01 | 2015 but for now, I'll just have to celebrate with my family members.

That's it for now, till my next post, bye!

Chocolate Review: Weisse Schokolade

So, I am planning on starting a new series of posts in which I would review all sorts of snacks. From cookies to chocolate, snacks you can find in supermarkets to snacks from Marks & Spencer's, I'll review them all! I hope that these posts will help others to decide whether or not they should buy the snacks I've reviewed as well as help myself keep track of which snacks I would re-purchase in the future.

Without further ado, here's the review!

The first snack I'm going to review- as you could probably tell from the title above- is white chocolate! I was fortunate enough to receive this chocolate bar from my mum's European colleague/friend and although I do not know where my mum's friend is from, I'm pretty sure that this is a German brand. Please do correct me if I'm wrong.

The name of this chocolate is "Weisse Schokolade".

This is real white chocolate because it contains cocoa butter.

Every piece of chocolate has the letter "G" on it. As you can see from the pic above, it's quite thick.

Texture-wise, it glides down your throat easily and it doesn't hurt your throat on the first few pieces however I did notice that after eating 6 pieces of chocolate, my throat started to hurt so I had to stop eating it. It stopped hurting after I drank water. Also, I could taste a hint of hazelnut for some reason, I'm not sure if there are hazelnuts in there because I can't read German.

Sweetness on a scale of 1-10 stars:

1: Bitter
5: Just right
10: Too sweet that I had to spit it out
Would I purchase this if I had the chance? Maybe not because it was a little too sweet for
my liking.

Final thoughts: This chocolate was okay however in my opinion, there are better white chocolates out there that aren't as sweet as this one and have a lighter taste to them ( if that makes any sense to you ) so I would not purchase this in the future. On the plus side though, there are times when my throat immediately hurts after eating the first piece of white chocolates of other brands so this one is definitely 5 times better than those. I would recommend this for people who have a sweet-tooth only.

First Day of School!

Ello ello there, I'm back to write the first blog post of the year! And it's gonna be about my first day of school as a Senior ( muahahahaha ).

On 12th January 2015, I woke up at 5.15am, had a shower, relaxed on the couch before finally going to school at 6.20am. I reached school approximately 15 minutes later. When I got there, I sat down, ate my breakfast and had a little chat with my friends before we headed to the assembly grounds at 7.10am.

As you may or may not already know, after the results of the final exams came out last year, we Form 5s had to change classes according to our grades against our own will. You cannot appeal to stay in whichever class you were in the previous year nor can you appeal to move up a class. Well, I thought that this was a load of horseshit and that they weren't going to change a thing ( even though I saw the same happen to my seniors in the previous year ) until eventually the inevitable came after the assembly was over when the teacher informed us ( well, "us" as in the science stream students, that is ) of which class we were going to be in by reading off of a name list. I watched as some of the students from other classes, as well as mine stood up to form a new line, then walked off to their new classes. I also watched as some of the students from other classes came and join my classmates and I in our current line, all the while scrutinizing the fact that the teachers had taken it upon themselves to ruin the unity we used to have as a class.

When I got to my new class, everyone had already taken the best spots leaving me with the one nearest to the back door, though I can't complain much because of how convenient it is. The downside to it is that I can't see the words on the whiteboard quite clearly from time to time, but I'm confident I'll get past that in time.

When classes have started, our class teacher was surprisingly, a no-show. It's surprising because she's the same class teacher as last year so I know how much of a perfectionist she could be. As there was no teacher in the class, everyone started to talk and the atmosphere quickly turned lively. Half an hour or so later our Chemistry teacher entered our class and started to talk about Chemistry-related things thus ending our minutes of freedom. He didn't start teaching because nobody bothered to bring their textbooks to school.

The rest of the details are quite hazy due to my short-term memory, but I do remember hat happened during English class. Fortunately for me - not so for others - the teacher who taught us English last year is also teaching us English this year. She's always been very kind towards me since my days in Form 3, so I was quite elated to learn that she was gonna be my English teacher during my last year of High School. Anyway, my English teacher gave us an assignment when she came in- we were to group into a team which consists of 2 people and learn about the similarities and differences between us and our friends and write them down in the form of an essay. Needless to say that I had a lot of fun in the process of completing this assignment. We're supposed to write the essay in class tomorrow and hand it in as well.

So as my friends and I were writing down each other's differences and similarities, my English teacher comes over and says  "[my name]! How've you been? How was your holiday? Did you go anywhere?". " I went to Korea," I replied. She then remarks that I must like kpop, and immediately notices the word "Kpop" which I had written down as a similarity between my friend and I on the paper. After having said that, my teacher proceeds to walk away, only to be called back by me because I wanted to tell her about my essay getting an "honourable mention" in an essay-writing competition. She responded by congratulating me as well as asked if any of my classmates had an honourable mention too. "No, I'm the only one," I said, and she congratulated me again. Aaaaah, what a great way to start the first day of school. ( To be very honest, I have been aching to write an essay during the holidays so to have my wish come true is sooooooooooo good though I do feel bad for my peers who aren't as excited as I am )

The rest of the day was okay I guess, nothing too memorable. Our class teacher did come in during the last period but she didn't explain her being absent earlier on. After receiving RM100 each from our teacher, she started to assign roles to us, for example, the monitor, the co-monitor, the secretary etc. I thought that I was free of responsibility only to be picked to be in charge of everything related to our History period later on ;A;.

So, that's basically it I guess, nothing too exciting to blog about. It's 11.17 pm now so I'm going to head to bed. Til' my next post, bye!
