Update 21|11|2014

1. I was very bummed out over the news of my failure that I forgot to write a post about the time when my friend and I went to watch the Maze Runner ( 20|10|2014 to be exact )! Only the 2 of us went as the others weren't free to go but we still had fun nonetheless.
The Maze Runner was awesome! I loved that movie so much that I actually bought the first book of the series a week later ('cause mum didn't bring enough money for me to buy more than 1 book). My favourite characters are Newt and Alby. Not really liking Thomas as of now but hopefully my opinion of him will change as I read the series.

2. I went shopping today with my mum and the twins to purchase a few jumpers that I could wear in Korea ( going there in 2 weeks ) but to no avail, as expected of a country that experiences summer-time all year long. I went to GAP, H&M, Uniqlo and even though I managed to find some decent-looking jumpers, I figured that if I didn't like them 100% then it's a waste of money to purchase them. I DID eventually find one jumper that I liked 100% at H&M though mum refused to buy it for me 'cause she deemed it to be too "manly-looking". On the bright side, this means that I'll be able to buy jumpers in Korea since we didn't buy any here, so I'm not particularly upset.

3. Mum's been doing last minute research lately on places to go in Seoul and she's also been pestering me to help her. As much as I want to help her, she's basically already included all of the places I want to go on her itinerary, so I don't think I'll be bringing much to the table anyways.

4. Starting last week, the form 5s have been sitting for their important examinations, so us irrelevant students get to have alternating days off until our year-end holiday comes on the 26th. I had to go to school on Tuesday and Thursday last week due to extra exams for science stream students only. This week I have to go to school on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but judging by how late this post will be posted, I'm positive you've already figured out that I'm skipping classes. I went to school on Monday though due to exams again. Now that they've ended, I can finally start my unofficial holiday ( I'm supposed to go to school on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday next week but meh, I'm lazy ). You'd want to skip too if all you did in school was keep quiet while trying to play games, which I can assure you is IMPOSSIBLE because of all the fun you're having with your friends.

So on Monday, I found out which class I was going to be in for next year but I'll save that for another post because I have so many things that I want to say but I wouldn't be able to fit them in this already super-long post.

5. Tomorrow I'm going to a friend's house.

6. Saturday I'm going to my cousin's house 'cause the rents want to discuss about the trip to Korea. Oh and I almost forgot to mention that I'm also going to get a new wardrobe!

I guess that's it for this update post. Till my next post, bye!

Failed.

Yeah, I failed Chemistry. This... is the first time I've ever failed a test, and the feeling isn't great.

As exams neared, I always joked about wanting to throw the tests and fail, never fully believing that I would actually fail. Now that I have, it's like I've been slapped in the face with my own laziness. I thought I did well enough to pass Chemistry but apparently I didn't and now I'm facing the consequences of my procrastination. Here's a tip people: Do NOT start studying the day before the actual test because luck isn't always going to be on your side, it certainly wasn't on mine that day.

When I found out that I had failed Chemistry, I was very out of the zone at first. I kept spacing out and worrying in class and there's this girl who would mock me and ask " are you daydreaming?" OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Said girl later mocked me when I was losing at chess which made me even more frustrated because girl, I DON'T NEED THIS SHIT. I JUST SAID THAT I'VE FAILED CHEMISTRY, DO YOU NOT GET IT? NO I'M NOT DAYDREAMING, I'M INTERNALLY BEATING MYSELF UP FOR GETTING AN F SO WOULD YOU STOP MOCKING ME AND MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS?

When I got home, I decided it would be best to break the news of my failure to my parents over the phone as I couldn't do it face-to-face or I would start to cry and I didn't want them to see that. So I called my mum first and told her that I've failed Chem and immediately after that I started to cry but I tried to keep my voice together so that she wouldn't noticed. She comforted me and we talked a little. I then told her that I wouldn't be going to school for the next 2 days since the teachers weren't going to teach or come to class anyways and she said:" see this is why you have bad grades because you're always skipping school. " What? I JUST told her that the teachers weren't going to come to class and it's not like I always skipped school when they did!

The other reason for me wanting to skip school is because I'm running away from the reality of it all. I still haven't received my Physics test papers yet and I'm afraid that if I do, and if I failed Physics too, then I wouldn't be able to handle it right then and there. I've slightly managed to keep my cool in school yesterday but there's no telling if I would be able to do it again if I get another F. I've cried in school before and I'm not going to do it again.

After I told my mum, I called my dad and told him that I've failed Chem and at first he was disappointed- I could hear it from the way he spoke -but then he started to ask questions and I answered, all the while trying to hide the fact that I'd started to cry again. We talked and I told him that I was going to skip school for the next 2 days as well as explained the reasons for my decision and you know what he said? He said: " It's no wonder you got bad grades when you keep skipping school like this. " HELLO? What's up with parents and them NOT LISTENING TO YOUR PERFECTLY GOOD REASONS? I am not the type of person to skip school for no good reason before my final exams end and my parents seemed to have conveniently forgotten that.

And to all the parents out there, newsflash: NOT ALL TEACHERS ARE GOOD IN TEACHING, AKA even if your child goes to school EVERY SINGLE DAY, chances are that they wouldn't gain any knowledge because THEIR TEACHER(S) SUCKS AT TEACHING. Here's my list of teachers who've failed to make me (more) knowledgeable in the past few months: Chemistry, Physics, BM, Maths/Add Maths. Notice what they have in common? THEY ARE TEACHING IMPORTANT SUBJECTS YET THEY DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO TEACH WELL.

Anyway, my dad did eventually comfort me when he came home and told me to not be so hard on myself as well as nagged me to watch less tv shows and study hard while my mum did/said nothing, all of which I'm grateful for because if they dwell on the topic for too long, I think I'd start to cry ( yeah I'm a crybaby ).

So.

I'm not coping well as of now but... I'll be fine.

Eventually.

*If I do/do not fail Physics, I'll write it down below.

UPDATE: I got a D for Physics.

Luhan.

...where do I begin?

So yesterday, 10th of October 2014, Luhan filed a lawsuit against SMent and requested for the nullification of his contract.
I found out about his lawsuit when whilst I was scrolling through instagram, I noticed many people commenting on a D.O fanpage about how D.O "shouldn't let Luhan go" or how he should "stop Luhan from leaving" (the commenters thought that that was D.O's real account so..) And I remember thinking to myself:" Why is everyone still believing in those silly rumours? Our Luhan isn't going anywhere.". Yet, after thinking such thoughts, I started to doubt myself.

So I went on soompi and the page wasn't fully ,loaded yet, but on the top of the page I managed to see a picture of what I presumed was  Luhan's growl era hairstyle (again, the page wasn't fully loaded yet so all I could see was his hair). Surprise surprise, I was right.

To cut things short, I read the article, found out about the lawsuit and his departure and from then on I continued to mutter the word "no" over and over again because I was in self-denial mode. I went on twitter to see people flooding my timeline with tweets about Luhan along with the hashtag #alwayssupportLuhan at the end of (almost) every tweet. Everything was just... overwhelming. It's like what happened with Kris is happening all over again.

I don't want this post to be too long (because I have a lot of thoughts on my mind regarding this issue but putting them into comprehensible sentences... that would be a tough job) so I'll just cut to the chase, to why I decided to write about this in the first place.

A post for Luhan.

Dear our deer, Luhan,

I knew of your existence before I even became a fan of exo as your name kept popping up on twitter, facebook and other social media sites. You were so popular back then and you still are now. However, your popularity wasn't the reason why I made you my bias.
Admittedly, you weren't my first bias in exo, (it was Kyungsoo) but as I slowly got to see more video clips of you and hear more of your angelic voice, I couldn't help but start to like you more and more.
As I continued to be a fan of you, I realised that another thing that made me like you was how proud you were to be Chinese. As a Chinese myself, I felt really insecure because us Chinese always get looked down upon and treated unfairly, and the fact that I suck at speaking as well as writing in Mandarin kind of worsened my already low self-esteem. But then you came along and showed me that yes we Chinese can be capable of achieving our goals  as well as showed me the beauty of learning Mandarin, even though it is a really really hard language to master. Thanks to you, I feel like all these years of learning Mandarin have finally paid off because of the way you embrace the language and the way you use it to communicate with your fans despite the fact that you are also quite fluent in the Korean language.
There are an innumerable amount of other things that I like about you, Lu ge but alas, I am unable to express them in words. And it is because of this, how fond I am over you that I am quite unwilling to let you go, yet at the same time I feel like the choice you made was quite appropriate, given the fact that your health is rapidly deteriorating and that you feel like your company has committed a great injustice.

I wish you the best Luhan, and hopefully I'll be able to hear from you again in the near future. It's a selfish request, I know and I'm sorry but I can't help but make it, you've become a part of my life ever since I started to become a fan of exo. To never be able to hear from you again after getting accustomed to having every single thing you do being spread all over twitter, it's... saddening. At least a picture or two or even a status update would suffice.

Continue to pursue your dreams Lulu, because us fans will have your back through every step of the way.

Till you- our bambi, our former vocalist, our Jack Frost- reappear, be it on social media or on the big screen, I bid you a farewell.

Love ya, Luhaen.

Awkward experiences in school

I have so many posts related to school otl.

On Thursday, a teacher came into my classroom and told us female students that after recess we were to go to the open hall to do "something" and left us to ponder what that "something" could be. A classmate of mine remarked that the last time we had a "female students only meeting" it was about how dirty the toilets were, which lead many of us to think that maybe this will be a repeat of that very meeting.

However, I was soon told by my friend from the neighbouring class that that was unfortunately, not the case. Apparently her teacher told her class that we were going to have a little photoshoot session for... sanitary pads. "Well that explains the "females only" part", I thought. My friends and I couldn't stop cringing at the idea of holding sanitary pads and smiling for the camera because imagine just how awkward that would be!

Long story short, we received our pads for free, shot some videos thanking the company, took some photos and that was it. Which brings us to our next problem: how were we going to hide our pads away from the perverted and childish eyes of the male species of our classes? We couldn't stuff them in our pockets as they were to thick, nor could we hide them under our shirts/skirts because that would be too obvious. So, we opted for a bold option: the "we don't give a f*ck" option where none of us tried to hide our pads. The boys were bound to find out about it anyway so why hide them?

Side note: As we walked past a couple of boys- who were in the hall either to spy on us or who were under-educated pricks who for the love of god have never seen a pad in their lives- they shouted:" AHAHAHAHA GIRLS HAVE PERIODSSSSSSS." YES BOYS, GIRLS HAVE BLOOD BLEEDING OUT FROM THEIR FREAKING VAGINA EVERY ONCE IN A MONTH, WHAT IS YOUR POINT? WHERE IS THE HUMOUR IN THAT SENTENCE BECAUSE I SURE AS HELL CAN'T HEAR IT.

When we got to class, I was caught off guard when I saw that our teacher -who rarely came to class- was surprisingly present. Side note: Before we went in though, some of our male classmates lined up outside our class for reasons that were unknown to me. One of the boys jokingly asked us what was the meeting about (even though they so obviously knew the answer) and the one of the girls retorted with words I can't seem to remember. After hurriedly shoving my pads into my bag, I looked up and saw that the sentence "what is p _ d" was written on the whiteboard. It didn't take me long to realise what the boys and my (male) teacher were discussing about during our absence.

Come to think of it though, this isn't the first awkward experience I've had in school. When I was 15, my school distributed deodorant because smelly teens need to get their b.o in check. Also, not too long ago we had sex education for the first time and let me tell ya' : it was very, VERY WEIRD. They made us repeat the sentence: BE SMART AND REFRAIN FROM COMMITTING ADULTERY over and OVER again! Then they showed us weird pics and disturbing videos which involved abortion, side effects of various diseases ( which of course are related to sex) and so forth. All in all... it was a very uncomfortable situation to be put in. The worst thing was that the school board only gave us a subtle hint that we were going to undergo sex education on that day! Shouldn't this be a choice? Why must my time be wasted and my innocence further robbed? As if Biology didn't give us enough information on sex and the effects of sleeping around. Then again, there are students who don't study Biology... UGH WHATEVER.

I hope that I don't have to go through any awkward experiences ever again, though something tells me that there are more to come. After all, I have 1 more year left in that lovely school of mine. Oh how wonderful that is.

That's it for this post, till my next post, bye!

Update 15|09|2014

I.. am procrastinating right now. It's a bad habit, I know, but I can't help but be lazy especially on a holiday!

So some updates:

1: Exams are coming soon, I won't exactly say when because I'm scared that my mother is going to discover this blog and see the date and scold me for procrastinating when exams are just around the corner.

2: Last Wednesday, my English teacher asked us to act out scenarios of vanishing courtesy that is taking place in my country. We were to choose between acting out the courteous/discourteous side of people in our country on Thursday. Believe me when I say that I wasn't surprised to see the majority of us act out the discourteous side of our country because apparently it's hard to come up with scenarios of people being courteous to each other. Take my group for example, my group-mates and I initially planned on acting out the courteous side of our fellow citizens but after 10 minutes of coming up with nothing, we decided to switch sides. In the end, it took us 5+ minutes to think of the scenario we were going to act out. So what I'm trying to say is that it's true that it's easier to think of negative points than positive points because us humans tend to remember the negatives rather than the positives.

3: Yesterday-which was a Sunday- my family and I went to a shopping mall to eat lunch. We went to a Japanese restaurant. When we were in the restaurant, we sat horizontally-like, the kind of seats in front of the conveyor belt that has sushi on it- and I sat at the end of the table. A few minutes later, a couple sat down in the seats that were vertical to ours- imagine a flipped side of the letter "L", yeah that's how the seats were aligned(?)- and the waiter already placed menus on the table prior to them sitting down. Once they sat down, they briefly flipped open the menu, decided what they'd wanted and closed it and waited for the waiter to come and take their order. When no one came, the lady got so frustrated that she raised her hand to grab their attention and succeeded in doing so. Once the waiter approached the couple, the woman-her tone full of sass- goes: " So I guess no one wants to serve us right? " and proceeds to list out the food she wanted to order.
So there I was on my phone, pissed as ever at how rude the couple was to the waiter all the while trying to keep a straight face. I mean, they LITERALLY JUST SAT DOWN and briefly flipped through the freaking menu! Immediately I thought they must've been regulars because who the hell sits down and instantly knows what they want to order after a couple of page flips and say, a minute or 2. Hey lady, maybe the reason why the people working their didn't hound you with "can I take your order?" type questions over and over again is because they wanted to give you and that worthless lover of yours some time to figure out what you wanted to eat before disturbing your train of thoughts? How the hell is someone supposed to know that you're probably a regular and that you already know what you wanted to eat the minute you sat down? It's not like you had a sign that says "HEY I'M A REGULAR CUSTOMER" in bright neon lights over your head or anything, am I right?

I really, really dislike it when people take the people who serve them for granted and treat them as if they are lower than them, as if they aren't human and don't possess human emotion. Just because they are serving you and you're the customer doesn't mean that you have every right to order them around and treat them like they're your dogs or something. Imagine if someone treated you like that, would you like it? No, you wouldn't! So before you do that to someone else, use that thing inside that head of yours-it's called a brain fyi and you're supposed to use it- and THINK before you act.

I had to get that off my chest because these people are just the most horrible creatures I have had the displeasure of meeting that day and it sickens me to have to sit next to them and act like I'm okay with them being rude to the waiter. I hope I never bump into them ever again.

So yeah, that's it for the updates I guess. I went to Ipoh 2 weeks ago and it was amazing but there's no way I can fit the entire trip into a blog post and I can't seem to remember all of the events that had transpired so I may not write about it... I don't know, it depends.

Until my next post, bye!

My Parcel!

FINALLY, the time has come for me to share with you the contents of my parcel!
As I've mentioned in my last post, I received this parcel on Monday, 18|08|2014 but I didn't have the time to blog about it until now.

Let's start from the beginning shall we? How I even got the chance to wait for my parcel to come in the first place.

After a few months of endlessly begging my mum to order my books online, she finally gave in to my request and finalised my order on Amazon.com. It wasn't an easy task, to be VERY honest. I had to beg her from November of last year to this year's July in order for her to eventually get fed up of my constant begging and get this over with.

So once we finalised the order, I was over the moon. I mean, I've been waiting for this since last year, how could I not be happy! HOWEVER, little did I know that there was going to be obstacles in my way.

Apparently the information my mum submitted didn't match her banks' so her bank decided to decline our payment. After 4 or 5 failed attempts at changing the information she submitted, - and me pestering my mum to CHANGE THE CREDIT CARD-my mum unwillingly (mind you, she really likes her american express card) decided to pay with another credit card.

Believe it or not, it worked on the first try. My mum definitely earned an "I-told-you-so" for that one.

Once they received the payment, Amazon sent me and e-mail saying that I would receive my parcel on 27th of August ( my mum's birthday, heh ) which was 4 weeks from the time I ordered it.

So you're probably thinking that everything went smoothly after that right? WRONG.

Two weeks later on a Thursday, my mum told me that the postman had come to our house at 9 in the morning to deliver my parcel, but because no one was home, they failed to deliver it. They left a note in the mail asking us to go get it ourselves. I was very frustrated of course because of all the times they could choose to come, they chose to come at 9 in the morning when no one's at home.

Fine then, we could always get it ourselves. Problem was that my parcel was located in another area, and the opening and closing hours were quite inconvenient for working people.

What further irritated me was when my parents went there on a Saturday to collect my parcel, they said that the firm that manages parcel-collecting(?) was closed on weekends.

So after a lot of whining, groaning and 1 day, I finally received my parcel after my mum went to collect it before she went to work on Monday morning. ( I am trying my best to summarise this whole fiasco so the sentences may "flow" as smoothly as you'd like. Plus I'm sleep deprived so..) I couldn't believe my eyes when I held my parcel in my hands. It felt soooooo surreal to finally be able to have it in my possession after everything I went through to get it. I got so excited that I immediately locked myself in my room and filmed the process of me opening my parcel. I also took lots of pictures which can be seen below:

A massive THANK YOU to Amazon.com for making this possible. You guys have no idea how long I waited for a paperback version of "The Fiery Heart" because there were only hardcover versions in bookstores (I wanted to save some money to buy the hardcover version of SIlver Shadows.) Now that I have both books with me, I'm going to be able to meet Sydney, Adrian and the rest of the gang again after approximately 10 months :'D

It's my first time ordering something from Amazon and I have to say that I'm very impressed with the condition of my books. As you can probably tell from the photos above, they are still in good condition even though they weren't wrapped in bubble wrap but plastic wrap instead. So to all the book lovers out there, fear not because there is a major possibility that your books will arrive to your doorstep in good condition if you order from Amazon! ( provided your postmen don't screw up when delivering them )

Till' my next post, bye!

Mr Astronaut

This is definitely going to be a very long post.

Today, our school board decided to invite our country's first every astronaut to our school. His name is Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor and is 42 years old. Any other information about him can be found on wikipedia.

To be very, very honest, at first I wasn't elated at the thought of spending a few thousand bucks on a person who already has a lot of money. I didn't think it was worth it. However, after having the opportunity to spend an hour with him, hearing him talk about his 12 days in space and his childhood dream of becoming an astronaut, I quickly realised that I was wrong- this was worth it.

Call me prejudiced but I expected him to be this strict, un-friendly, arrogant guy who would talk a bunch of bullshit on how we are nothing if we don't study and blah blah blah. Again, I was proven awry as Mr Astronaut was none of the things I expected him to be. He was down-to-earth, friendly as well as had a good sense of humour. These characteristics of his made the time spent with him enjoyable and I think it's safe to say that this was unexpected since almost all of the speakers invited to our school were usually the annoying, strict ones who can't take a joke.

I've managed to jot down a few of the things that happened during our meeting with Mr Astronaut so that I could post it here on my blog. So without further ado, let's begin!

Okay since I only started to jot stuff down halfway through his talk, these events happened I think after he introduced himself and showed us clips of his training before going up into space. I said "I think" because I'm a forgetful person.

Anyway, I started to jot down stuff when he was talking about his time in Russia for astronaut training ( I think that's what you call it, I'm not sure ). He said that 4 people-including him of course- were to go to Russia for training, then 2 people would be picked for further training, and in the end only one of them would get the chance to go to space. He also told us that the Russians loved their country so much that whoever wanted to train there had to learn how to speak fluent Russian. When Mr A asked us if we wanted him to speak Russian, everyone screamed "yes!" and he obliged by telling us what his first Russian words were: I love you. This prompted the students in the hall to go "awwww" upon hearing that.

OOH, before that, Mr A told us that he wanted to go to space since the age of 10 years old. He said he dreamed of being in space, surrounded by the planets as well as other stuff which I did not manage to write down.

Continuing the story, Mr A told us that whilst Koreans brought kimchi to space and uh, other people from other countries brought their own delicacies too ( I only remember koreans ahhaa, he did mention the Japanese but I forgot what it was), he brought satay, rendang and other foods too. He also said that he couldn't bring nasi lemak to space as the rice would float all over the place due to zero gravity.

After that, he proceeded to show us short clips of him in space! One of them included him in the uh, space shuttle(?) surrounded by floating objects ; Another one included him trying to eat his breakfast (biscuits) and whist he talked about how careful one must be when eating in space because his/her food will float, his biscuit floats in the air as if on cue and the students started to laugh. There were also clips of how he brushed his teeth - he couldn't rinse his mouth after that so he had to swallow the water in his mouth after brushing his teeth, how he washed his hair - water is extremely precious in space due to the lack of water in space, how he slept - in a sleeping bag in this uh, capsule ( I keep saying "uh" because I'm not sure what the exact terms are ) etc.

Speaking of water, Mr A told us that he couldn't drink water from a glass because the water eventually turns into a "water bubble". He then played a clip of him squeezing a drop of some strawberry flavoured liquid out of his tube and we watched as it transformed into a pink, "water bubble" which floats in mid air. As we continued to stare intently, Mr A explained that popping the "water bubble" is a dangerous thing to do as the bubble could pop into millions of tiny water droplets that could in turn, damage almost all of the equipment on board. So how did he handle the complication before him? Well, the Mr A in the video took a spoon, held it upside down and stuck it onto the "water bubble" before him. The "water bubble" then transformed into a jelly-like substance.

When the showing of clips ended, Mr A continued to talk about lots things regarding his experience as an astronaut.

" The greatest thing about space is you get to look out the window and see the Earth surrounded by millions of tiny galaxies."

I'm not sure about the details but Mr A definitely didn't successfully landed on Earth. I think he said he was in something... which was ejected from the rocket(?) [ AGAIN, he was speaking too fast for my hands to write down everything he said so while I was writing about the words he'd spoken earlier, he had already moved on to another experience ] which was in flames.. and he landed somewhere either in the forest or in the sea, I'm not sure. If you're curious just google search it please because I'm pretty sure that I'm not a reliable source. Eventually the rescue team was able to find him.

He said that after he landed, he was so weak that he couldn't even lift a finger. He stayed in the hospital for a few days and when he finally woke up, he didn't know whether to lift up his legs or put them down. He says that this is because after coming back from space, astronauts' physiological aspects are messed up. For example, on Earth, blood flows to all parts of the body but in space, blood flows to the head due to zero gravity which could result in osteoporosis.

Also, to quote Mr A, "twinkle twinkle little stars does not work in space" because when you look at them from space, they do not twinkle. This is personally my favourite quote of his as it contains a hint of sass, ahaha.

Ran out of sentence connectors... Besides that, Mr A also said that "they" - he did not specifically say who "they" are- plan on going to Mars in the year 2027 because Mars seems to be the only planet that is similar to Earth since they were able to find water, and the existence of water means the possible existence of living things. Not only that, Mr A kept stressing that they have not been able to find any other lifeforms in space ( ex: aliens ) so we should not believe in the photos we see online because for all we know, those may be photoshopped or something.

After he finished talking about the things he wanted to talk about-which included his training regime ( surviving in forests, on a boat at sea etc), the requirements for an astronaut and many other things that would further lengthen the length of this post, he decided to have a Question and Answer session with us students. Here are some of the more memorable ones that I felt the need to list down as it would be a waste to not do so.

Q: What happens if a woman astronaut has her period in space?

[ cue people like me face-palming themselves ]
A: [ talks about how capable women are at certain stuff before answering the question ] It isn't a problem because they could still use pads whilst in space, it's just that they have to be more careful because their blood could turn into.. "blood bubbles".

Q: [ Something about why people are rehabilitated after coming back from space ]

A: As Mr A's stated before, their physiological aspects get messed up after returning from space so they tend to have trouble adapting to earth once they come back. So in order to solve this problem, they have to be rehabilitated for about 2 months. Mr A said that he was lucky enough to be amongst the 25% of astronauts who didn't experience space sickness.

As we were running out of time, Mr A asked 3 students to quickly go to the front and state their questions before he leaves. One of them included a some-what overweight male student. When Mr A draped his arm across his shoulders and asked if he aspired to go to space, the male student replies "not really," which made us students erupt into a fit of laughter. Mr A, seemingly not taken aback by his answer, responds by saying that if he does want to go to space then he should lose some weight. After that hilarious exchange, the questions continued to flow in.

Q: What was your first thought when you looked out the window?

A: He basically said that he was amazed at how huge the galaxies were.

Q: What is the best way to learn a second language?
A: The best way to learn a language is to be in that environment. [ Went on to speak about how the Russians only spoke Russian when he was in space so he had no choice but to learn to speak fluent Russian ]

Q: [ This question was asked by the slightly over-weight student that was mentioned earlier ] You know the space suit is very heavy right? How do you fart in it?
A: [chuckles] Uhm, well astronauts take off their suits when they're in the space shuttle(?) [ I don't know the difference between a space shuttle and a rocket] so it doesn't matter whether they fart or not. Due to the fact that space suits have a vacuum in them, when you fart it would still be well ventilated.

After all questions were answered, he decided to share his 5 recipes for success before leaving us.

MR A's 5 RECIPES FOR SUCCESS [ ALTHOUGH IN THIS CASE IT'S 4 SINCE I DIDN'T HEAR THE LAST ONE]

1. You must dream big.

2. You must be fearless in order to be brave.

3. You must be fluent in English.

4. You must have good grades because if you excel in your grades then you can be anyone you want to be [ which I object because have you seen the amount of jobless university graduates? Having good grades doesn't necessarily guarantee you a job for your information ]

He then ended this little "meet & greet" by saying that he wished us all the best and other stuff which I can't recall... I have a bad memory okay?

Once it was over, the students who bought Mr A's book were to have the chance to get his autograph and have some face-to-face time with him. The teachers even gathered to have their picture taken with him for remembrance of this historic event. The rest of the students? We were forced to return to our respective classes.

So, that basically sums up my experience of seeing Mr Astronaut in my school. I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we had tons of fun as we were not only able to learn many interesting facts about the profession of astronauts, but also because we had the chance to loosen up and enjoy ourselves with the country's first and good-humoured astronaut who certainly surprised us with his personality. I am pleased to say that this was an incredible and pleasurable experience, and I can't help but feel sad for the students who missed out on the chance to experience what I was able to experience during the limited amount of time we've spent with Mr A. For all I know, chances like this aren't going to appear for a second time.

I think I'm going to end this post here. Till my next post [ which may be posted tomorrow ], bye!

I initially planned on writing two posts for today, ( one of them is this and the other is about my parcel which I received yesterday night ) but it's 10:19 p.m. now and I have to sleep soon so I think I'll write the 2nd post tomorrow.

Man this post sure is long.
